Mikie Joy lived a life full of history, drama, sport and genealogy. He had one of the most important jobs in any locality, that of the local historian. However, he was much more than this and for the parish of Portroe and surrounding areas, he was a library of history, folklore and genealogy. We are very lucky that Mikie wrote down a small percentage of what he knew and Arra Historical & Archaeological Society have filed, preserved and scanned his historical papers, and now make them available to the public to view via their website on the internet.
