An early spring day in 1966, I joined a group of about 20 students in a half-day picnic to Seo-o-reung Tomb at the invitation of a literary club at Seoul National University. 불광동 시내버스 종점에서 서오릉까지는 걸어서 약 한 시간 길이다. 우리는 이 길을 삼삼오오 이야기를 나누며 걸었다. 나도 4, 5인으로 한 덩어리가 되어 학생들의 질문에 가볍게 대꾸하며 교외의 조춘(早春)에 전신을 풀어헤치고 민들레처럼 가벼운 마음으로 걷고 있었는데, 우리 일행과 앞서거니 뒤서거니 하며 같은 방향으로 걸어가고 있는 여섯 명의 꼬마 한 덩어리를 뒤늦게서야 깨닫게 되었다. It is about an hour-walk distance from Bul-kwang Dong shuttle bus terminal to Seo-o-reung. We walked in threes and fours, joyfully chatting with one another. I, too, walked with a group of four or five, responding lightly to students' questions, while opening myself to the early spring weather of the suburb and sauntering in the breeze as jocundly as the floating dandelion seeds.
